April 2025 Mentor of the Month

“I mentor because I wholeheartedly believe that the little things make a big difference. Simply knowing someone is in your corner, cheering you on, can be incredibly powerful. My experience as a mentor has been deeply rewarding, and I’ve truly cherished my time with my mentee. I hope that one day, he looks back with pride on the person he has become and sees our interactions as a meaningful part of his journey.”

March 2025 Mentor of the Month

"I mentor because every child deserves a cheerleader...someone to uplift, encourage, and guide them through both academic and personal challenges. I genuinely believe I was put on this Earth to spread kindness, and mentoring gives me a meaningful way to do just that. A kind word, a warm smile, or simply showing my mentee that I believe in their ability to overcome obstacles can change their day...or even their life. I hope that the support and positivity I share with my mentee will create a ripple effect, inspiring them to uplift others in the same way. 💖✨"

February 2025 Mentor of the Month

"I mentor because I know how important having an advocate and a mentor in a child's life can be...Due to the subsequent advocacy of people that cared about me, we were able to change several public school policies...I mentor because I know support can make a difference. And because my mentee is pretty darn cool."

January 2025 Mentor of the Month

“I mentor because it gives me the opportunity to be the caring adult that I needed and at times was fortunate enough to have when I was a struggling teen with 8 ACEs myself. I want to show my mentee that it is possible to rise from a rocky start to reach any dreams that she might dare to imagine, which is why one of my tattoos, translated, means “From the ashes, I will rise to the stars. Either I’ll find a way or make one.” I want to inspire that same drive and spirit in ger the way past mentors did for me.

December 2024 Mentor of the Month

“I was contacted by Safe a few years ago, I first said no because of my busy life and schedule. I didn’t want to let a kid down by not having time...I knew from the day I met my mentee he reminded myself of me when I was younger. My mentee and myself have really bonded over this past year. I continued to mentor him throughout the summer. His life, all of these young people’s life can be so fragile. These young individuals that have asked to be in this program are just as nervous I’m sure to meet us as we are meeting them. I wholeheartedly will continue to mentor my mentee until the day he says he’s done with it. Which we’ve joked before, if he wants someone just dropping off lunch it’s not me. It was a Jesus trick with getting to be my mentee’s mentor. I mentor because it makes a difference, I wish I had someone who relate to me when I was younger. Someone who didn’t try and sugar coat things or try to shmooz me with fake interactions. I do this because it is an opportunity to shine light in my mentee’s life that I would have been so fortunate to have.”

November 2024 Mentor of the Month

“I grew up poor in an urban setting. My wonderful parents, married at 17, 4 kids by 24, had no real life experience to really share or shape my understanding of reality. At 18, on my own, I found many unofficial mentors through my friend’s fathers and my employers (local farmers). I realized that an ”outside of family” perspective is huge in learning how to navigate life’s journey.”
