Phone Interview
We ask that all our applicants complete a phone interview with a Safe Yakima Mentor Coordinator. This helps us get to know you better and match you with the best fit student!

Safe Yakima Mentor Coordinators call each of the applicant's references to answer some more questions about the applicant.
-
Orientation and Handbook
Once all the steps above are complete, we reach out to the applicant to set up a virtual orientation. This orientation is where we go over program rules and regulations, attachment theory, ACES, mandatory reporting, approved activities, program resources and support, and answer any questions the applicant may have. Once orientation is complete, the applicant must sign our program handbook agreeing to participate in the program.

Match Meeting!
Once all the steps above are complete, we are ready to match the applicant with a student! We cross reference both the mentor and mentee's application to choose the best fit for all parties.
